More than a PE teacher, Mr. Swenson is shaping how students move through life. From building confidence and healthy habits to teaching that true strength is measured by how well you move, not how much you lift, his impact reaches far beyond the gym. A mentor to both students and future educators, he was surprised as this month’s Game Changer award recipient, earning tickets to a Vegas Golden Knights game along with a $1,000 in recognition of his incredible impact.

Myrtle Tate Elementary celebrated something special as Ms. Kendra Shoemaker was named an Educator in Excellence Award winner. As a second grade teacher and instructional leader, she ensures students of all ability levels receive the support they need to reach grade level mastery, creating a classroom where every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Her impact extends far beyond the school day, and we were proud to recognize her dedication with a $1,000 award courtesy of America First Credit Union. Catch her feature in Sunday’s Las Vegas Review Journal and on the 7 at 7 segment next week.

Treasure Watanabe, Kindergarten teacher at Kitty Ward Elementary School, was surprised in her classroom as the recipient of the Las Vegas Desert Dogs Teacher of the Game Award.
A true example of leadership, collaboration, and positivity, Treasure creates a classroom where every student feels valued and inspired to grow. Her hands-on, student-centered approach brings learning to life through creativity, energy, and meaningful engagement, making her classroom a place of joy and discovery each day.
The team brought three current players along with their mascot, Decker, to celebrate the moment and share that she will be honored at the April 18 home game. She will also receive a gift card and a two-night stay at Rio Hotel and Casino.

The Tribute to Valor Foundation aims to influence, impact and inspire the youth of America to ask themselves “Who Am I?” 🇺🇸 and to answer by reflecting on the six core values of the Medal of Honor: Courage, Sacrifice, Patriotism, Citizenship, Integrity, and Commitment.

From learning about the dangers of smoking with the American Lung Association to cheering on the Aviators vs. the Oklahoma City Dodgers...this day was the perfect mix of education and fun.
Students even signed a No Smoking Pledge to commit to a healthy future 💙
