A well-deserved spotlight for Ms. Amanda Stayton, an outstanding social worker at Halle Hewetson Elementary!
Surrounded by her students and colleagues, Ms. Stayton was surprised during an all-school assembly with the first UNR Excellence in Education Award of the school year. Through programs like Bear Buddy, she creates meaningful connections and a culture of belonging that helps students feel supported, connected and ready to thrive.
Along with the honor, Ms. Stayton received a plaque, a letter signed by UNR President Sandoval and tickets to the UNR vs. UNLV football game later this season.

CCSD teachers and staff ran out of the tunnel during the UNLV Rebels’ home opener as part of CCSD Day, giving our employees a one of a kind opportunity to experience game day from the field. We also celebrated UNLV Teacher of the Game, Yesenia Talavera, as she was honored on the field.
