How Community Members Can Get Involved

Community engagement is a necessary and valued component for enhancing the education of our students. If you are an individual or belong to a group in the community that wants to get involved and volunteer at a school working with teachers, students, or staff members CCSD welcomes you. If your group wants to assist with programs already in place, or start something new we want to hear from you.

Our community partners are invaluable, and assist students and schools with needed resources. Our community partners generously provide schools with donated supplies, toiletries, incentives, and volunteers. These resources enable students to be prepared to attend school, remain focused on learning, and strive for academic excellence.

Here are some suggestions for how you can get involved:

Mentor a Student

The Stay in School Mentoring Project is a cooperative endeavor of professionals in the community and the Clark County School District. The goal of the program is to offer support and guidance to middle school students who are at risk of dropping out of school. Mentors are asked to make a commitment of one school year, meeting with their mentee for one hour per week at the school site. The goal moving forward is to provide mentors in all grade levels.

Speak To At Risk Students

Through the Professionals and Youth Building a Commitment (PAYBAC) program, middle school and alternative high school students hear messages from a very diverse group of community volunteers on the importance of continuing their education, goal setting, overcoming obstacles, and making plans for their future.

Volunteer

The Clark County School District is always in need of volunteers. There are volunteer opportunities through the School-Community Partnership Program office including the Stay in School Mentoring Project, Reclaim Your Future Mentoring Project, and the PAYBAC Program.

Volunteers can always call a school directly to express interest in volunteering at a school close to them. For a CCSD school location map please click here.
